Sometimes only the right burger will do...

There are times when having a delicate morsel of a burger in a trendy place is fine. And then there are the days when only the biggest, juiciest, excuse-me-miss-may-I-have-more-napkins kinda burger will do.

May I introduce you to (or remind you about) Nosworthy's in Coeur d'Alene?  Sure, they still get referred to as The Ground Round in casual conversation, but that won't help if you are trying to find them now.

This is the burger that calls to me in my time of need. Specifically, my what-to-have mood swings between Mootz's Sister and the Mellow Cheddar. Sometimes it's a toss up between the hand-cut fries and the delicious Jo-Jos.

Makes me happy here since even if I am there for lunch, no one looks at me sideways if I pair my tasty burger with a schooner of red beer...this is the place where being yourself, sipping a big beer with two hands and dabbing at your face with your napkin between bites is taken completely in stride.

Thank heaven for this haven.

Find them at:  4045 N Government Way, Coeur D Alene, ID 83815 or give them a jingle at (208) 664-6161 (so busy making good food, no time for a website).

A True Tree Getaway

When we were kids and wanted to escape, we ran away to a treehouse we had crafted in our neighbor's yard.  Armed with Hershey's chocolate bars, a lukewarm Coca-Cola, slingshot and a Hardy Boys novel, I claimed I could have stayed there forever.

Now grown up, that treehouse looks so tiny and uncomfortable for the long-haul stay that I can't believe I made it as long as I did holed up in there all of those years ago...

Ok, so now I have found my answer to capturing that magic again!  Brian and Shar Scott in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, have built it for me.  Not sure if they meant it to be specifically for ME, but like Peter Pan, I don't want to grow up.

You can find Brian and Shar Scott at the American Country Bed and Breakfast, 705 Zircon Lane, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83814 and www.americancountrybedandbreakfast.com

The Best Honey-Do List Ever

Send my husband to do my dirty work? Sometimes.

He has been to craft stores, linen stores, hauled props in his truck, cut handouts, bought catering pans, you name it.

Does he mind? Not this time.  At Framework, when we first heard about a new stock car racing school just 15 minutes from us, I thought - hmmm, will have to check that out.  Then realizing that if I undertook this test drive while sending my best friend/husband out for more honey-dos, I was going to be in trouble. The fact that he is a better driver than me didn't factor into it. Really.

He did the "Racing 101" class. Two hours of class, then 35 laps. That's 35 laps of him driving - no ride-alongs here. He LOVED it.  Get there, and get there FAST!
